Located in ancient Mesopotamia, "The Cradle of Civilization", the city of Babylon was situation by the banks of the Euphrates river in what is now modern day Iraq. It is not far from the hypothetical location of the garden of Eden, which was described in Genesis as being the source of the Pishon, Gihon, Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
